Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. As a child she was enrolled in the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma chose to be an actor at age six. For several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. By the age of ten she was performing and taking the lead in various Stagecoach shows and school productions. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight consecutive auditions. Emma's debut on screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in 2001. The film is 2001's top grossing film, breaking records during the opening day and the very first weekend. Reviewers praised the film, and especially the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain that is distributed widely the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma's performance was nominated and was awarded five awards for the movie.
