Matthew Matt James is a North Carolina native born on 5 December 1991. He is the is the son of Manny James along with Patty James of mixed race. His father is Nigerian as is his mother, who is caucasian American. In 2010, he graduated from Sanderson High School and furthered to Wake Forest University where he completed a bachelor's in Economics in 2015. James' fame kick-started when he made his on-screen debut as a reality television star for The Bachelorette. James was chosen in 2020 to play the role of the new bachelor on The Bachelor season 25, becoming the show's first African American male star. The show debuted later in that year. James's appearance, size and ability to laugh were the perfect match for the part. The show ended when he chose Rachael Krkconnell to pursue an intimate relationship with the actress. In season 30, (in 2021) of Dancing with the Stars, it was a dance with Arnold. James and Arnold finished 12th.
